African IGF 2022 Workshop Selection List

The following is the result of the workshop evaluation and selection process conducted by the  Africa IGF Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) for the 2022 Africa IGF  annual meeting.

With a view to creating session issue area tracks, and reducing overall redundancy, the number of selected workshops was limited per the issue area.

The selected 47 workshops of evaluated 93 are listed below. All proposers – those approved, approved conditionally, and not approved – will receive individual emails on their status, as well as further instructions if applicable.

African IGF 2022 Call for Proposals Deadline Extension Announcement

The  Call for Proposal for the African IGF 2022 deadline is extended to the 27 of  May 2022. All stakeholders are encouraged to submit proposals to shape the AfiGFIGF 2022 hosted in Malawi from 19-21 July 2022. 

The overarching theme is Digital Inclusion and Trust in Africa.

The African IGF is also organized under the following five sub-themes;

  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Cyber Security, Privacy, and Personal Data Protection
  • Digital Skills and Human Capacity Development
  • Affordable Meaningful Access
  • Digital Infrastructure

AfIGF 2022 Call For Workshop Proposals

The 10th African Internet Governance Forum (AfIGF) will be held in Lilongwe Malawi.
The AfIGF Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) is therefore opening the call for the submission of session proposals for the 2022 AfIGF programme. Stakeholders should submit these proposals by
no later than 27 MAY 2022.

AfiGF 2022 will be organised in a hybrid format at the physical venue in Lilongwe, Malawi, as well as online. The goal is for all participants, whether onsite or online, to engage in an equally meaningful way in AfiGF sessions. Workshop and session organisers are expected to consider elements of interactivity and accommodate the hybrid format in their proposals.

AfIGF 2022 hybrid nature means that stakeholders can submit session proposals regardless of whether they plan to be present onsite in Malawi, although they are required to have at minimum one physically present, onsite moderator.

Call For Nominations For The ‎2023 African Internet Governance Forum (AfIGF) ‎Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) ‎

The African Internet Governance Forum secretariat is inviting the community comprising all ‎stakeholders and regional groups in Africa for nominations of candidates for the 2023 Africa Internet Governance Forum Multistakeholder Group membership. The MAG terms ‎of reference and the current composition ‎of the MAG are available ‎at the AfiGF website ‎.‎ Nominees are expected from Governments, the ‎private sector, civil society, academia and technical communities, ‎ and should come from the five African regions (Northern, Southern, Central, Eastern and Western). Successful ‎nominees will become part of the MAG for a period of two years and are ‎expected to bring know-how, integrity, dedication, and hard work to the multistakeholder consultation ‎process. ‎ Please submit nominations using the online submission template ‎available at the AfIGF website by 5th March ‎‎2022. Upon completion of the selection process by the Nomination Committee (NomCom), successful applications will be announced during the 11th African IGF (AfIGF-2022). We would like to express our gratitude to all past and present members of the African MAG and the MAG ‎Chair, who have ‎contributed their time, effort, and valuable guidance to ensure the smooth and ‎effective running of the African IGF.

Le secrétariat du Forum africain sur la gouvernance de l’Internet invite la communauté comprenant toutes les parties prenantes et les groupes régionaux en Afrique à proposer des candidatures pour l’adhésion au Groupe multipartite du Forum africain sur la gouvernance de l’Internet 2023. Les termes de référence du MAG et la composition actuelle du MAG sont disponibles sur le site Web de l’AfiGF.
